Zee Media Bureau

New Delhi: Amid outrage over the killing of five Indian soldiers by Pakistani forces at the Line of Control (LoC), the Indian Deputy High Commissioner was summoned by Pakistani Foreign Ministry on Wednesday after protests outside Pakistan High Commission.

"The Deputy High Commissioner was asked to ensure security of the Pakistani diplomats, civilians, the High Commission and the Pakistan House," a Pakistani official said.

Members of the youth wing of the Congress party protesting the killing of Indian soldiers tried to enter the Pakistani High Commission today.

The protesters turned violent as they were pushed back the police barricades and reportedly entered into a scuffle with policemen. They also demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh cancel his meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Police detained around 75 protesters including 8 to 9 women during the protest. Later, they were released.

Yesterday a group of 20 heavily armed men led by Pakistani troops entered 450 metres into the Indian territory in the Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir in the wee hours and ambushed a patrol killing five Indian soldiers, sparking all round outrage with demands for strong government response.
